Footage released by Lantratova showed ten ambulances stationed at the airport near Gomel, Belarus, ready to transport the returned servicemen, suggesting that some of those involved in the exchange may be critically wounded.

In addition to POW exchanges, there have also been instances where the bodies of fallen soldiers were exchanged. The frequency of prisoner exchanges has increased this month after a brief hiatus in July. Prior to last week’s exchange, the two nations conducted two swaps in June, resulting in a total exchange of 345 servicemen.
