Moscow and Minsk will convene a UN meeting on September 25 to work on the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century, Russian Foreign Ministry Department of International Organizations Director Kirill Logvinov said in an interview with TASS. "On September 25, we and our Belarusian colleagues are convening a high-level meeting to implement the initiative to draft the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century, which will mark the official launch of work on this document," Logvinov said ahead of the participation of the Russian delegation, headed by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in the high-level week of the UN General Assembly. The idea of drafting the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century was first put forward at the First International Conference on Eurasian Security, held in Minsk in October 2023. In June 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed creating a security architecture in Eurasia aimed at overcoming existing security challenges and stabilizing the military and political situation on the continent.
