CultureRussia-DPRK film exchange to boost mutual understanding — minister Olga Lyubimova noted that Russia and the DPRK are bound by a shared history, mutual respect, and strong friendshipMOSCOW, October 3. /TASS/. Film exchange events in Russia and the DPRK will help strengthen mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries, Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova said in a welcome address to the opening ceremony of the first Korean Film Week in Moscow. "Holding film exchange events in our capitals opens a new, vibrant chapter in our bilateral cultural dialogue. The upcoming screenings will allow Russian audiences to get closer acquainted with the cinematic art of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, thereby strengthening mutual understanding between our peoples," the statement reads. Lyubimova noted that Russia and the DPRK are bound by a shared history, mutual respect, and strong friendship. According to her, culture remains a "reliable bridge" uniting the two countries, preserving the memory of the past and inspiring new creative discoveries. The first Korean Film Week is taking place in Moscow from October 2 to 5, marking the 78th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and North Korea. The event opened with the 2023 film "72 Hours," directed by Ri Yun-ho. The program also includes "Once, One Day and One Night," "Days and Nights of Confrontation," "The Story of Our Family," "From a Schoolgirl's Diary," "Pyongyang Nalpharam Martial Artists," and the sci-fi animated film "Young Dreamers." The film week is organized by Roskino with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture. An official delegation from the DPRK is attending the opening ceremony.
