**Russia Launches Massive Missile and Drone Attack on Ukraine**
In a significant escalation of hostilities, Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone assault on Ukraine overnight on Thursday, targeting various cities including the capital, Kyiv. Ukrainian authorities reported that the attack involved a combination of advanced weaponry, including two Oniks anti-ship cruise missiles, 258 drones, and an unspecified number of ballistic missiles.
The Ukrainian air force responded to the assault, claiming that nearly 90% of the drones were intercepted and destroyed, along with one Oniks missile and seven ballistic missiles. This latest barrage marks a continuation of Russia's intensified air strikes against Ukraine, particularly in recent months, as the conflict persists.

In Kyiv, the impact of the attack was felt across multiple districts, where debris fell and caused damage to a school and a healthcare facility, as reported by Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Explosions echoed throughout the city, with witnesses noting the intensity of the assault. In the surrounding areas, the regional governor reported two injuries resulting from missile and drone attacks, which also ignited a fire in warehouse premises and caused damage to private residences.
The Russian defense ministry claimed that the strikes were aimed at significant components of Ukraine's military-industrial complex, as well as its metallurgical and oil-refining industries. The attack on the Black Sea port city of Odesa reportedly lasted throughout the night and into the morning, resulting in damage to infrastructure, an educational facility, and a multi-storey building. Three individuals were reported injured in Odesa as a result of the bombardment.
Additionally, five drones from the Russian offensive crossed into the airspace of neighboring Moldova, raising concerns about the conflict's potential spillover effects. In the central Poltava region, industrial facilities and an energy site were targeted, leading to power outages affecting seven settlements, according to the regional governor. In Kryvyi Rih, President Zelenskiy’s hometown, two missiles struck an industrial facility, injuring three people. Another three individuals were reported wounded in the southern city of Zaporizhzhia.
