"Work has been completed to check the technical condition of Elektro-L No. 5 hydrometeorological space vehicle stationed at 76 degrees east longitude in a geostationary orbit. The satellite has been successfully accepted for operation within the space system of the same name," Roscosmos said in a statement. Currently, the satellites Elektro-L No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 constitute the Russian orbital weather satellite cluster. The satellite Elektro-L No. 5 was orbited in mid-February at an altitude of 35,406 km, with its working orbit located at an altitude of 35,786 km above Earth. Currently, two satellites, Elektro-L No. 5 and Elektro-L No. 3 are operating at the standing point of 76 degrees east longitude. Roscosmos specified that it might decide later to move the satellite Elektro-L No. 3 to the standing point of 14.5 degrees west longitude where the satellite Elektro-L No. 2 is currently operating after exceeding its active service term.
