The Russian federal budget deficit amounted to 5.2 trillion rubles ($61.1 bln) or 2.2% of the GDP in January - October 2026, the Finance Ministry said on its website. "According to a preliminary estimate, the amount of federal budget revenues in January - September 2026 totaled 29,639 bln rubles ($348.3 bln), which is 10% higher than revenues received in the like period of 2025," the ministry said. "The amount of federal budget expenditures as of the end of January - September 2026 totaled 34,825 bln rubles ($409.2 bln), which is 14.5% year on year above last-year figures," it added. The federal budget deficit is expected to be within 3.2% of the GDP over the year in total. "Structural budget deficit expansion in this year is predominantly financed without resorting to extra borrowing on the federal loan bond market, which is called to ease the situation with credit resources availability for the extra-budgetary sector and maintain stability in financial markets," the ministry added.
