The Russian Defense Ministry has provided details regarding its recent large-scale overnight attack on Ukraine, asserting that the strikes were aimed at military-industrial enterprises, logistics hubs, and fuel infrastructure utilized by Ukrainian forces. This operation is part of Moscow's ongoing military campaign, which it claims is a response to what it describes as Ukraine's indiscriminate “terrorist attacks.”
According to the ministry, Russian forces employed high-precision air- and ground-launched weapons, along with attack drones, to target various locations in Kyiv and the surrounding Kyiv Region. The ministry emphasized that its operations are focused solely on military and dual-use installations.
Among the specific targets cited in the attack was Radionics, an electronics manufacturer in Kyiv that specializes in the production of guidance systems for various missile types, including the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles and the Neptune-MD guided missiles. The company is also involved in the repair and modernization of avionics and radar systems for MiG-29 fighter jets.
Other significant targets included Spetsoboronmash/Artyom, which produces missile guidance components; Meridian, known for manufacturing airframes and guidance system parts for Neptune-MD missiles; and Oakline, a company that develops components for long-range strike drones and stores unmanned aircraft. The ministry noted that Oakline also produces carbon-fiber parts and batteries for first-person view (FPV) drones.
In addition, the Russian strikes targeted the Kiev Innovation Terminal operated by Nova Poshta, described by the ministry as a sorting center for dual-use goods, which includes components for drones, robotic systems, and electronic warfare equipment.
In the Kyiv Region, the Tarasovka logistics center operated by Antel Properties was also hit. The ministry stated that this facility is involved in receiving, storing, assembling, and distributing components necessary for the production of long-range drones.
Furthermore, Russian forces targeted fuel storage tanks and other infrastructure at the Port of Yuzhny in the Odessa Region. According to the ministry, these facilities were used for receiving and storing military cargo, as well as fuel and lubricants intended to support the Ukrainian military.
This latest barrage comes amid intensified long-range drone raids by Ukraine deep within Russian territory, which have reportedly resulted in significant civilian casualties and damage to residential buildings. On Saturday, a targeted strike on a logistics center operated by the Russian online retailer Wildberries in the Tambov Region resulted in the deaths of seven night-shift workers, with another 25 individuals injured.
The ongoing conflict has prompted reciprocal accusations between Kyiv and Moscow. While Ukraine routinely accuses Russia of deliberately targeting civilian sites, Russia contends that Ukraine has a history of utilizing civilian infrastructure, including warehouses and public buildings, for military purposes.
