Personnel of the Russian and Sri Lankan armed forces practiced an operation to liberate a settlement seized by terrorists, the press service of Russia’s Eastern Military District reported. It stated that the final stage of the Russian-Sri Lankan Wolverine Trail 2026 exercise had ended at the Sergeyevsky training ground in the Primorsky Region. "Personnel of the two countries’ military contingents practiced a number of missions, including the liberation of a settlement seized by terrorists, the evacuation of the civilian population, and the clearing of buildings and structures," the statement said. The Eastern Military District specified that the military operated as part of mixed crews using motorized and armored vehicles, buggies, armored personnel carriers, and tanks. The personnel also practiced parachuting from army helicopters. "Upon completion of the practical phase, a closing ceremony for the exercises was held at the training ground, with a march-past by military personnel from both countries in parade formations. They also exchanged commemorative souvenirs. Medals were awarded to the exercise participants from the Russian Defense Ministry and from the Republic of Sri Lanka. A commemorative stone was also unveiled at the Sergeyevsky training ground to mark the end of the exercise," the district’s press service reported.
