A Russian team has won the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) for high schoolers in the Kazakh capital city for the third consecutive year, the press service of Russia’s Central University. "The team from Russia won eight medals - seven gold and one bronze - at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) for high school students which was held in Kazakhstan from August 2 through 7," it said. "For the third consecutive year, Russia’s high school team has become the overall champion at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence." According to it, team member Artyom Gorokhov was the individual champion at the Olympiad. A team from China took second place, and a Polish team finished third. The Russian team was trained by experts from the Central University and the AI Alliance Russia. In the final, Russian students faced 465 counterparts from 105 countries, including Australia, Argentina, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Spain, Kazakhstan, China, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, the United States, Switzerland, and Sweden. This year’s number of participants was 64% more than last year, the most ever in IOAI history, putting the event second among international Olympiads in terms of the number of participants after the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).
