**Santa Claus Arrested in US Child Predator Sting Operation**
In a startling turn of events, a 75-year-old man from New Orleans, who legally changed his name to Santa Claus, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to engage in sexual acts with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old boy. The arrest was made public by the Kenner Police Department, which conducted an undercover operation targeting suspected online child predators.
According to police reports, the suspect, formerly known as George Quigley, initiated contact with the supposed teenager through a dating app. During their communication, Claus exchanged sexually explicit messages and discussed plans to meet for sexual encounters. This interaction led to an arranged meeting in the suburbs of Kenner, Louisiana.
The Kenner Police Department's cyber crimes unit executed the sting operation over the weekend, resulting in Claus's arrest as he arrived at the designated meeting location. He was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with computer-aided solicitation of a minor and indecent behavior with a juvenile. Following his arrest, Claus was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center, where his bond was set at $20,000 for each charge.
Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley addressed the media, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation and the implications for community safety. He noted that Claus had been photographed dressed as Santa Claus and highlighted the irony of the situation, given the man's involvement in community events that typically involve children.
"This is a cautionary tale to parents and guardians," Conley stated. "All these defendants are a danger to our youth and society. We preach daily about the vulnerability of our children on social media and gaming platforms, and now we have arrested a person who dresses up as Santa Claus, inviting parents to drop their young children in his lap for photo ops."
Claus was one of 11 individuals arrested during the operation, which aimed to identify adults allegedly seeking sexual contact with minors online. Authorities have also issued warrants for 10 additional suspects connected to the sting.
This incident follows a similar case from two months prior, where a Florida man, known for portraying Santa Claus at community events, was accused of attempting to meet someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl during another undercover operation.
The Kenner Police Department's proactive approach in targeting online predators underscores the ongoing efforts to protect children from potential harm in digital spaces. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging parents to remain vigilant about their children's online interactions and to educate them about the risks associated with social media and dating platforms.
