The route has seen dozens of serious accidents, including fatal ones, because of the many side roads feeding onto it. A rental car driver, entering the main road, apparently failed to give way in time, colliding with a car heading from Paphos towards Empa. The two vehicles collided at an angle, with tremendous force. A woman travelling in one of the cars was seriously injured and needed to be taken to Paphos Hospital. An ambulance rushed to the scene, and paramedics transported her to the state hospital, where she was admitted. Her condition has not yet been clarified. The crash caused traffic congestion for some time on the busy road. Local authorities in the area, reacting to today’s incident, once again complained about how dangerous the road is.
