**Six Arrested, 370 Traffic Violations Recorded in Overnight Police Operations**
In a series of overnight police operations across Cyprus, law enforcement officials arrested six individuals and issued a total of 370 traffic fines. The operations, which took place as part of a broader initiative to enhance public safety and maintain order, involved organized patrols in key urban areas throughout the island.
According to a statement released by the police on Monday, the increased presence of officers was aimed at preventing serious crime and bolstering the public's sense of security. The operations resulted in the arrest of six people for various offenses, including illegal residency in the Republic of Cyprus and charges of causing grievous bodily harm.
During the course of these operations, police conducted thorough checks on 564 vehicles and inspected 697 drivers and passengers. In addition to vehicle inspections, officers also carried out checks at 46 premises, leading to 15 reports of violations.
Traffic enforcement was a significant focus of the operations, with officers issuing 370 complaints for a range of road traffic offenses. Notably, 143 of these fines were specifically for speeding violations. The police also conducted 108 alcohol tests, with five drivers testing positive for alcohol consumption. Additionally, one drug test was performed, which returned a negative result.
As part of the enforcement efforts, a total of 12 vehicles were impounded. The police emphasized that these intensified operations are a regular part of their strategy to combat crime and ensure public safety. They plan to continue with increased patrols, targeted checks, and rapid operational responses in the future.
