The suspects include three 19-year-olds, a 20-year-old, a 26-year-old, and a 27-year-old, all of whom remain in custody. The victim’s family filed a formal complaint with the police on 29 July 2026, stating that the 20-year-old had been abducted earlier that evening at around 7:20 p.m. Investigators said the victim had arranged to meet the group of men at a specific location in Paralimni to discuss personal matters. According to the police complaint, the suspects demanded money from the victim and threatened him. They then forced him into a vehicle and drove him to an unknown location in Larnaca. The abductors released the 20-year-old at a location in the Famagusta district shortly after midnight on 30 July 2026. Officers from the Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Larnaca Aliens and Immigration Department, and the Larnaca Crime Prevention Unit (OPE) launched a coordinated operation that led to the arrest of the six men in the Larnaca district. The six suspects are due to appear before the Famagusta District Court, sitting in Larnaca, on Saturday morning for a formal remand hearing. The Famagusta CID is continuing its investigation.
