Sketching Summer 2026 will run from September 11 to 13 at Val’s Place, in a green setting near Polis Chrysochous, with up to 30 participants taking part in drawing and painting sessions before presenting their work in a final group exhibition. According to the organisers, the retreat is designed as more than a conventional art class, combining organised art sessions with free time, shared meals, music and space to unwind, with an emphasis on community and collaboration. No previous drawing or painting experience is required, and the organisers describe the retreat as open to both beginners and more experienced creatives in a relaxed, judgement-free environment. The programme includes life drawing sessions with nude models, themed and evening poses, open-pose sketching and a portrait sketching circle in which participants draw one another. One of the highlights, organisers say, will be an acrylic painting session during golden hour, with participants creating work on canvas surrounded by greenery and sunset light. There will also be time for independent sketching in nature, conversation and music. On the final day, the artworks created during the retreat will be presented in a group exhibition open to the public. Participants will have time to choose and prepare their work beforehand, and the organisers say no commission will be charged on sales, so artists keep the full amount for any piece sold. Art materials are included in the participation fee, covering a sketchbook, pencils, charcoal, canvas, acrylic paints and brushes, though participants may also bring their own materials. Breakfast and dinner are included, with vegan options available. Accommodation is not included, though optional camping is available at Val’s Place, and participants can bring their own tent, arrange one during registration, or book accommodation elsewhere in the area. The retreat begins on Friday, September 11, with arrival, check-in, a welcome circle and the first life drawing session, followed by dinner, portrait sketching and music. Saturday includes a morning life drawing session, free sketching time in nature, an open-pose session and the sunset acrylic painting session, followed by a group discussion in the evening. On Sunday, participants prepare their work for the final exhibition before the retreat closes with further creative activities and a final gathering. The early-bird price for the full retreat is €220, available for the first 10 tickets until July 31, with the regular price set at €260 after that. A limited number of Saturday Day Passes are available for €170. Because the programme includes artistic nude life drawing sessions, the organisers say Sketching Summer 2026 is open only to participants aged 18 and over.
