**Smart Meter Rollout Continues Across Cyprus in August**
The rollout of smart meters across Cyprus is set to continue throughout August, as announced by the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) on Tuesday. This initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize the electrical infrastructure in the country and enhance energy efficiency.
The EAC has indicated that during the installation of each smart meter, there will be a temporary interruption of electricity supply for safety reasons. This interruption is expected to last no longer than 20 minutes, minimizing inconvenience to residents.
The installation will take place in various locations across the island. In the capital city of Nicosia, new smart meters will be installed in Strovolos and in the area bordered by Athalassa, Limassol, John Kennedy, Dimostheni Severi, and Strovolos avenues.
In Limassol, the municipalities of Limassol and Mesa Geitonia will see the implementation of smart meters. Specific areas targeted for installation include the region between Makarios III, Grigoris Afxentiou, Omirou, Griva Digeni, Georgios Neophytou streets, and Spyros Kyprianou avenue, as well as the area between Makarios street, Spyros Kyprianou avenue, and Ayios Athanasios avenue, extending to the Nicosia-Limassol motorway.
The rollout will also extend to Larnaca, where the municipality and the area between Artemis avenue, Faneromeni avenue, and Piale Passia road up to Mackenzie beach will receive new smart meters.
In the Famagusta district, the Paralimni municipality will be included in the installation plan, with smart meters being placed on either side of Akropolis and Ayios Dimitrios avenues, as well as Griva Digeni avenue and the Konnos area.
Finally, in Paphos, the Yeroskipou municipality and the area south of the Limassol-Paphos motorway to Archbishop Makarios III avenue will undergo the installation process, covering the stretch from the roundabout at the entrance of the city up to Ayia Marinouda.
The EAC has emphasized the importance of this transition to smart meters, which are designed to provide more accurate readings, enhance energy management, and ultimately lead to better service for consumers. The authority encourages residents to prepare for the brief power interruptions and to reach out with any questions or concerns regarding the installation process.
As the rollout progresses, the EAC aims to keep the public informed about the schedule and any potential impacts on electricity supply.
