The voter turnout in the election to the 9th Russian State Duma, the lower house of parliament, stands at 59.68% after 99.89% of ballots were processed, with 67,279,994 people casting their votes, Central Election Commission (CEC) member Pavel Andreyev said at the Dialogue about Fakes 4.0 forum. "You can see the voter turnout based on 99.89% of ballots. Not all [ballots] have been received yet. But the result is obvious," Andreyev said, presenting data showing that the current voter turnout is 59.68%. According to the CEC member, the high voter turnout demonstrates the level of voters’ trust in the election system’s ability to ensure the security of voting, including the electronic one, and the necessary level of openness and transparency. Andreyev noted that the CEC did not abandon the principles of openness and transparency while organizing the election. He also linked the result to measures introduced to ensure security at polling stations and during the remote electronic voting. According to TASS calculations, this year’s voter turnout has exceeded figures recorded during the 1993, 2003, 2016 and 2021 parliamentary elections. The final voter turnout will be announced later.
