**Sunshine Dominates, But Afternoon Showers Remain on the Cards in Cyprus**
Cyprus is set to experience another predominantly sunny summer day, following a misty start in certain areas. A weak low-pressure system currently influencing the region is expected to bring mostly clear skies, particularly on Tuesday.
Early morning conditions may feature patches of low cloud and light mist, but these are anticipated to dissipate as the day progresses. By the afternoon, however, cloud cover is likely to increase, particularly over mountainous and inland regions. This cloud build-up raises the possibility of isolated showers or thunderstorms, with the potential for hail in stronger storm systems.
Wind conditions will initially be light and variable, measuring around 3 Beaufort. As the day unfolds, winds are expected to shift to a southwesterly to northwesterly direction, increasing to 3 to 4 Beaufort. Along the southern coastal areas, winds may strengthen temporarily to 5 Beaufort, creating a slight increase in sea conditions.
Temperature forecasts indicate a warm day ahead, with inland areas expected to reach highs of 35°C. Coastal regions will experience slightly cooler temperatures, with the west coast reaching around 27°C and other coastal areas hovering around 30°C. In the higher mountain regions, temperatures are expected to be milder, around 25°C.
As night falls, conditions are expected to remain mostly clear, although local patches of low cloud may develop. Light mist is also likely to form during the early hours, particularly in coastal and inland areas. Winds will shift to a northwesterly to northeasterly direction, with southeasterly winds along the northern coast, remaining light at around 3 Beaufort. The sea will remain calm to slight, providing favorable conditions for evening activities.
Overnight temperatures are projected to drop to around 18°C inland, approximately 20°C along the coast, and 16°C in the higher mountains.
Looking ahead to the rest of the week, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are expected to start with mostly sunny conditions. However, similar to Tuesday, afternoon cloud build-up is likely, leading to the possibility of isolated showers or thunderstorms, particularly over mountainous and inland areas.
Temperatures throughout the week are anticipated to remain largely stable, staying slightly above the seasonal average, which is typical for this time of year in Cyprus.
As residents and visitors enjoy the sun-filled days, they are advised to remain aware of the potential for afternoon showers, particularly in the mountainous regions, and to prepare accordingly for changing weather conditions.
