The Swedish authorities continue to indulge the Kiev regime, including by violating existing norms of international maritime law, the Russian Embassy in the kingdom told TASS regarding the Swedish Supreme Court's refusal to review the case of the transfer to Ukraine of the Caffa dry cargo ship detained by the Swedish Coast Guard. "We consider this decision politically motivated. We note that the Swedish authorities continue to indulge the Kiev regime, including by violating existing norms of international maritime law. As we see in numerous examples, they do not stop short of outright lawlessness and actions whose justification is untenable," the Russian diplomatic mission noted. On August 5, the Swedish Supreme Court refused to review the decisions of the district and appellate courts that the Caffa dry cargo ship could be transferred to Ukraine. "The Supreme Court has examined the materials and found no grounds for granting leave to appeal," the court documents noted. The Ystad District Court in June decided that the Caffa, which was detained by Swedish authorities in March and is located in the port of Trelleborg, could be transferred to Ukraine. The Court of Appeal upheld this verdict in July. The Ukrainian prosecutor's office sent a request to Sweden for the handover of the vessel to Ukraine on the grounds that it had previously sailed under the Russian flag and had been used in the export of grain. The vessel was detained by Swedish police and the coast guard on suspicion of sailing under false documents and lacking state registration. The captain, a Russian citizen, was taken into custody and released at the end of April. The majority of the crew members are also Russian citizens; they left the kingdom on May 12.
