**Title: Tate Brothers Arrested in the US Amid Extradition Proceedings**
Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate have been arrested in Miami, Florida, following a request for their extradition by British prosecutors. The brothers, who hold dual citizenship in the United States and the United Kingdom, were taken into custody on Saturday under a sealed warrant executed by US Marshals in the Southern District of Florida. According to a spokesperson from the Justice Department, the arrests were made “pursuant to extradition proceedings.”
The arrest comes on the heels of an announcement from the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which revealed that it has brought 38 additional charges against the Tates. This brings the total number of charges to 59, involving seven alleged victims. The offenses are said to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017.
Andrew Tate, aged 39, is now facing a total of 42 charges. The new allegations against him include seven counts of rape, three counts of facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and 19 offenses related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. His brother, Tristan Tate, 38, faces 17 charges overall, including six new counts: two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, and three counts of facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
Both Andrew and Tristan Tate have denied all allegations against them. Their attorney in the United States, Joseph McBride, described the new charges as “filth and slander,” suggesting that they are intended to obstruct the brothers’ ongoing defamation lawsuits in the US. McBride stated, “They’re pulling out all the stops to make sure these guys never get their day in court,” indicating a belief that the legal actions are politically motivated.
The Tates first gained significant public attention after Andrew appeared on the UK reality show "Big Brother" in 2016. Following this, they cultivated a substantial online following by promoting a hypermasculine lifestyle. In 2016, the brothers relocated to Romania, where they were arrested in December 2022 on allegations of human trafficking and forming an organized criminal group. Andrew Tate also faced accusations of rape during that arrest.
After spending three months in custody in Romania, the brothers were released to house arrest and later placed under judicial supervision. In a notable development, a Romanian court returned the original case to prosecutors due to legal and procedural irregularities, although the charges themselves were not dismissed.
In February 2025, Romania lifted the travel restrictions that had been placed on the Tates, allowing them to travel to Florida. This decision followed reports that officials from the Trump administration had raised the Tates' case with Romanian authorities, although Romanian officials have denied any claims of US pressure influencing their legal decisions.
As the Tates prepare to appear in federal court in the coming days, the legal battles surrounding them continue to unfold, drawing significant media attention and public interest. The outcome of these proceedings could have substantial implications for both brothers, as they navigate the complexities of extradition and the serious charges brought against them.
