This year’s event, presented by Ideogramma in collaboration with the Embassy of Ireland in Cyprus and the James Joyce Centre in Dublin, focuses on the female voices of Ulysses, bringing to light the characters and narratives that run through one of the most significant novels of the 20th century. The evening brings together internationally acclaimed Irish tenor, actor and pianist Morgan Crowley with actors Erika Begeti and Ioanna Papamichalopoulos in a bilingual performance featuring readings from different chapters of Ulysses in both Greek and English. Crowley will accompany the evening with live music and song. Artistic direction is by Lili Michaelidou. About the artists Morgan Crowley, a Trinity College Dublin graduate, has performed across five continents in productions including The Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Sweeney Todd and Riverdance, as well as the world premiere of Joyce’s The Dead at the Abbey Theatre, Ireland’s national theatre. Erika Begeti brings extensive experience in Cypriot and Greek theatre, while Ioanna Papamichalopoulos is among the most active actors of the younger generation in Cyprus. About Bloomsday Bloomsday is celebrated every year on June 16 — the date on which the events of Ulysses unfold in Dublin in 1904. The day takes its name from the novel’s central character, Leopold Bloom, and is now one of the world’s most significant literary celebrations, marked with readings, theatrical events and walking tours from Dublin to New York and Tokyo. The first Bloomsday celebration was held in Ireland in 1954, on the 50th anniversary of the day depicted in the novel. First published in 1922, Ulysses is considered one of the most influential and demanding works in world literature. Across 18 chapters — each with a distinct style and narrative technique — Joyce transforms an ordinary day in Dublin into a monumental literary journey of linguistic experiment, symbolism and allusion. 📍 ARTos House Rooftop, Nicosia 📅 Tuesday, June 16 | 8:00pm 🎫 Free admission — reservations recommended Subscribe to our Newsletter Latest News From the success of Limassol Del Mar to the legendary collaboration — Cavalli Tower at Limassol Blu Marine Christodoulides attends Sagrada Família inauguration in Barcelona as EU Council Presidency head Mass shooting in Johannesburg On this day: Reality show contestant Christina Grimmie is fatally shot in 2016 Four arrested over Paphos assault that left teenager with head and hand injuries Overnight pharmacies on Wednesday, June 10 Larnaca and Nicosia businessmen arrested in organised crime operation spanning three years Follow en.philenews on Google News and be the first to know all the news about Cyprus and the world.
