**The Productions of the Upcoming Cyprus Choreography Showcase**
The 4th Cyprus Choreography Showcase is set to take place from September 18 to 20, 2026, at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol. This annual event, organized by the Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Rialto Theatre, aims to highlight the vibrant dance scene in Cyprus while connecting local choreographers with international artistic directors and festival organizers.
This year, eight distinct productions have been selected to be featured in the showcase, each bringing a unique perspective to contemporary dance. The event not only celebrates local talent but also seeks to promote these works on an international scale. The inclusion of artistic directors from various contemporary dance festivals is a strategic move to facilitate networking and potential collaborations for Cypriot choreographers.
The showcase will kick off on September 18 with Panos Malactos’ piece titled “No I’m Not.” Following this, the audience will experience “The future is dark which is the thing a future can be,” a collaborative work by Petros Konnaris and Rodia Vomvolou.
The second evening, September 19, features Harry Koushos presenting “Not all wars are visible,” a performance that promises to engage with deeper themes. This will be followed by “Say Yes! Again and again,” a presentation by Evie Demetriou and En Drasi. The evening will conclude with “Mutated Gene,” a piece by Milena Ugren Koulas and the Stylish Junkies Collective.
The final night of the showcase, September 20, opens with “Ode” by Elena Antoniou, setting the stage for Melina Sofocleous’ performance titled “Don’t You Just Love Melting?” The showcase will culminate with Andria Michaelidou’s “Farma,” closing the official program on a high note.
In addition to the performances, the showcase will feature a series of parallel events under the title “Meanwhile,” organized by Nea Kinisi of Dancers and Choreographers of Cyprus, Dance House Limassol, and Dance House Lefkosia. These events aim to engage the community and foster a deeper appreciation for dance. On September 19, a walking gathering is scheduled for 10 AM at the Molos Open-Air Theatre. Additionally, on September 20, a Pitching Session and Speed Dating event will take place at Art Studio 55 at 4 PM, providing opportunities for networking and collaboration among artists.
