Music Vouni, open-air theatre, Tuesday, August 18, 8.30pm. A tribute to Alekos Sakellarios, marking 35 years since his death, comes to the stage in the musical performance “Archisan ta Organa” (“The Music Begins”), presented as part of the 2026 Cultural Decentralisation Programme. The programme features beloved songs by Manos Hadjidakis, Giorgos Zambetas, Stavros Xarhakos, Mikis Theodorakis and Mimis Plessas, performed by Dimitris Mesimeris and Marina Verzanli with an eight-member orchestra. The line-up includes Frixos Panayiotou (bouzouki), Andreas Giannara (bouzouki), Elina Georgiou (clarinet), Varvara Louka (violin), Antonis Georgiou (piano), Admitos Pitsillidis (guitar), Dimitris Papanikolaou (bass) and Konstantinos Paouros (drums). The show also travels to Paramytha, District Primary School, on Thursday, September 3, 8.30pm, and to Korfi, Community Park, on Sunday, October 11, 7pm. Shadow theatre Polystypos, Cultural Centre, Tuesday, August 18, 8pm. A cultural journey through Cyprus’s memories, traditions and beauty unfolds in the shadow theatre performance “A Suitcase Called Cyprus”, conceived by Eleni Papachristoforou. The performance is followed by the experiential workshop “The Figure That Remembers”. Papachristoforou wrote and directs the piece, performs it and leads the workshop, alongside Iakovos Kousiappas (live music, musical direction, composition, sound and lighting) and Pavlos Kousiappas (assistant puppeteer, puppet construction and technical support). The show also travels to Katydata, Square, on Wednesday, September 23, 8pm, and to Moniatis, open-air theatre, on Wednesday, September 30, 7.30pm. Exhibitions Nicosia Vitrina (16 Pentadaktylou Street): a visual art installation by Christina Siakola titled “Things I Forget”, until August 25.
