Agyristo Kefali — The Alkis Alkeos I Knew, based on the book of the same name by Miltos Paschalidis, explores the lesser-known side of the poet who chose to stay out of the spotlight and let his lyrics speak for him. Actor Giorgos Evagorou plays Paschalidis, bringing personal narratives, memories and moments to the stage. The 5th Cyprus Bloomsday Festival returns to Nicosia, honouring James Joyce and his novel Ulysses. Internationally renowned Irish tenor, actor and pianist Morgan Crowley joins actors Erika Begeti and Ioanna Papamichalopoulo in a bilingual performance featuring readings from different chapters of Ulysses in Greek and English, accompanied by live music and song. A lecture in the “Green Line and Cultural Heritage” series, organised by the Leventis Municipal Museum and the Friends of the Leventis Municipal Museum and Leventis Gallery, explores the past, present and future of the divided capital through the lens of cultural heritage. The event is held in memory of Lellos Demetriades, the mayor whose name became synonymous with the vision of a reunited Nicosia. In the first part, Agni Petridou, who served for many years on the Nicosia Master Plan, will highlight the enduring significance of the area now almost synonymous with the buffer zone. In the second part, Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prountzos will present the city’s current path and his vision for a Nicosia that grows without losing touch with its history.
