The Rialto presents EXPLICIT, a new three-day film tribute revisiting and creatively reflecting on films that provoked, challenged and expanded the boundaries of cinematic expression. The first EXPLICIT edition is dedicated to Lars von Trier. Today’s screening is Nymphomaniac (2013, 242 minutes, in two parts), at 7pm, the wild and poetic story of a woman’s journey from birth to the age of 50, narrated by the central character, Jo, who has self-diagnosed as a nymphomaniac. Following his Nicosia performance, Miltos Paschalidis appears in Larnaca tonight with songs spanning his career, alongside older and newer stories from his personal repertoire. Tickets: sold out. Based on the identically titled work by Arthur Schnitzler, the film is a melancholic and often unexpectedly funny story about art, ambition, recognition that comes too late, and the trap of being discovered once you believe it’s all over.
