THEATRE Dali, Idalio Amphitheatre, 8.30pm. The Theatrical Group “Paravasi” of Lympia’s Theatre Festival marks twenty years of continuous presence this year, returning from August 26 to September 13 at the Idalio Amphitheatre with ten evenings of performances by amateur groups from across Cyprus. The anniversary edition honours two decades during which the festival became a landmark for Cypriot amateur theatre, giving a platform to dozens of groups, creators and actors while building a loyal audience that follows its productions every year. The curtain rises today with an anniversary ceremony dedicated to the festival’s twenty years, bringing together past and present actors from “Paravasi” to share memories from the festival’s history, alongside footage from all previous editions. SCREENING Nicosia, Konstantia Summer Cinema, 9pm. The 27th Summer Screenings Marathon runs every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday until September 13. Tonight’s screening is the award-winning Spanish social drama “Sorda” (Sirens’ Call) by Eva Libertad, following a deaf woman whose deepest fears about motherhood and communication surface when she becomes a mother. The concert “Echo of the Mandolins” brings to life the atmosphere of old Athens, with the audience hearing songs and Athenian serenades from another era arranged for mandolin orchestra and piano.
