FESTIVAL Limassol, Rialto Theatre, 9pm. The 21st Cyprus Rialto World Music Festival begins today with Martha Frintzila and The Kubara Project + Kalogeraki Bros, running until July 21. The opening night brings a multi-layered musical encounter to the stage, where theatricality, poetry and two centuries of repertoire meet the performers’ own material in a live, expressive performance. A journey into the magical world of Cypriot oral tradition, where speech meets music, is offered by the musical storytelling performance “Paramythkion Ihoi – I Karkia tis Riyenas”, presented by Strovolos Municipality. The Sommerkino summer film festival continues with “Beyond the Blue Border (Jenseits der blauen Grenze)” by Sarah Neumann, based on the book by Dorit Linke.
