MUSIC Paphos, Castle Square, 8.30pm. Two of Greek music’s most recognisable voices, Alkistis Protopsalti and Nikos Portokaloglou, share the stage at Paphos’s Kastro Square for a concert bringing together two distinct but related musical journeys. The programme features landmark songs from both artists’ back catalogues, in a show that balances nostalgia with creative renewal. Tickets: Ticketmaster.cy and ACS Couriers. Nicosia, Main Stage of the Satirical Theatre, 8pm. A musical tribute to the love song, drawing on the long creative career of Cypriot composer and pianist Savvas Savva, presented under the title “In the Breath of Night.” The programme combines lyrics and poems from Greek and international love poetry. Performed by Koulis Theodorou, Anastasia Vorka, Despina Katsantoni, Dioni Geist, Marianna Savva and Christina Gavrielidou, with recitation by Salome Ieropoulou. Tickets: More.com. Sykopetra, “Pefkarouthkia” excursion site, 7.30pm. Marking 100 years since the birth of the great lyricist Kostas Virvos, the musical performance “T’achnaria” (Footprints) is a moving tribute to a figure who left an indelible mark on Greek popular song. Featuring: Filippos Ktenas and Anastasia Zakynthinou (vocals), Rikos Grigoriou (bouzouki), Nikos Pantechis (accordion, keyboards), Stamatis Petsakos (guitar), Andreas Efstratiou (drums) and Michalis Messios (musical direction, double bass). The concert is organised as part of the Cultural Decentralisation Programme. Limassol Municipal Cultural Centre “Panos Solomonidis”, 8pm. The music, spoken word and imagery event “Speak to Me of Freedom” with the Mousikoi Synodoiporoi ensemble is organised by the Open University of Cyprus. A special tribute to the Cypriot people’s struggle against British rule, highlighting emblematic figures of the campaign such as Grigoris Afxentiou, as well as the significant contribution of schoolchildren. THEATRE Nicosia, Dentro Theatre, 8.30pm. “The Harmful Effects of Tobacco” by Lena Kitsopoulou, directed by Kostas Silvestros. At the centre of the play is a seemingly light-hearted television talk show, in which an inventor presents his new “innovative” idea. But as the show unfolds, the façade of entertainment begins to crumble, revealing a world full of absurdity, existential anguish and dystopia.
