MUSIC Nicosia, Axiothea Mansion, 8.30pm. Distinguished jazz saxophonist and photographer Haris Ioannou returns to Axiothea Mansion as part of the 29th University of Cyprus Cultural Festival, presenting the multimedia production “The Two Sides of Haris Ioannou” for the first time in Cyprus. The show brings together the two creative strands of his career, music and street photography, with his quartet performing eight original jazz compositions, each accompanied by a set of his own photographs. Marking 100 years since the birth of celebrated lyricist Kostas Virvos, the musical show “T’ Achnaria” is a moving tribute to a figure who left an indelible mark on Greek popular song. Featuring: Filippos Ktenas and Anastasia Zakynthinou (vocals), Rikos Grigoriou (bouzouki), Nikos Pantechis (accordion, keyboards), Stamatis Petsakos (guitar), Andreas Efstratiou (drums) and Michalis Messios (musical director/conductor, double bass). The concert is organised as part of the Cultural Decentralisation Programme. WORKSHOP Nicosia, Kastelliotissa. The Department of Antiquities of Cyprus and the University of Cyprus Archaeological Research Unit are organising the workshop “Ledroi in Focus: Integrated Analyses of Archaeological Evidence from the Hill of Agios Georgios Settlement”. The workshop will bring together specialists working on the archaeological finds from the settlement on Agios Georgios Hill, to present and discuss the latest results of the interdisciplinary research.
