**Three Killed in Ukrainian Drone Strike on Tula Region, Russia – Governor**
In a tragic incident on Monday, three individuals lost their lives, and three others were injured, including a one-year-old child, following a drone strike attributed to Ukrainian forces in the Tula Region of Russia. The attack targeted residential areas in several settlements, including Yamny, Maslovo, Mikhalkovo, and Inshinsky, located approximately 193 kilometers (120 miles) south of Moscow.
Governor Dmitry Milyaev confirmed the fatalities and injuries in a statement on social media platform Max. He noted that the victims are currently receiving medical assistance. The drone strike caused significant damage to private homes and commercial properties in the affected areas.
In a related development, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that four unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) heading towards the Russian capital were intercepted and destroyed. Emergency services were dispatched to the sites where debris from the drones fell.
The Russian Defense Ministry provided further context, revealing that on the previous day, Russian air defenses successfully intercepted or destroyed a total of 249 Ukrainian UAVs across various regions, including Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Voronezh, Oryol, Tula, Kaluga, Rostov, Ryazan, Vladimir, Astrakhan, Tver, Yaroslavl, and Kostroma, as well as in Crimea.
The drone strike in Tula Region is part of a broader pattern of long-range Ukrainian drone attacks that have increasingly targeted deep within Russian territory. In recent incidents, drone strikes have resulted in casualties and injuries in other regions as well. For instance, one person was killed and eight others were injured when a drone struck an apartment building in the Oryol Region. Additionally, an elderly woman was hospitalized after debris from a UAV hit a house in the Smolensk Region.
In the Kursk Region, separate strikes resulted in injuries to two women and a man, while four individuals, including a child, were reported wounded in the Belgorod Region. Furthermore, a local resident was killed in the Crimean city of Saki, according to regional authorities.
In Yaroslavl Region, debris from a drone strike fell on industrial facilities, causing a fire but fortunately resulting in no casualties. Local media reported an unusual phenomenon described as a "fuel-oil rain" following the attack.
Russian officials have accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilian neighborhoods and infrastructure, arguing that such actions serve little military purpose and are primarily intended to instill fear among the populace. In response to these attacks, Moscow has issued warnings that any strikes on civilians and civilian infrastructure will be met with "systematic and consistent strikes" on dual-use targets in Ukraine, which include power facilities, military sites, command centers, and drone production plants. The Russian government maintains that it does not intentionally target civilian locations.
As the conflict continues, the situation remains tense, with both sides exchanging accusations and escalating military actions. The international community is closely monitoring developments as the humanitarian impact of these strikes becomes increasingly evident.
