**Three Injured in Explosion in Monaco; Investigation Underway**
Monaco, June 29, 2026 – An explosion outside a residential building in Monaco has resulted in injuries to three individuals, two of whom are reported to be in critical condition. The incident occurred shortly before 21:00 local time (19:00 GMT) on Rue Révérend Père Louis Frolla, situated near the border with France.
According to Minister of State Christophe Mirmand, authorities believe the explosion was likely a deliberate attack. Initial investigations indicated that the blast was caused by an explosive device that contained bolts and pellets. The Monaco government has confirmed that a suspect was captured on video surveillance fleeing the scene towards France.
In response to the incident, more than 100 police officers and emergency personnel were dispatched to the location to assist and secure the area. Mirmand remarked that this marks a historic first for the principality, stating, "This is the first time in history, to my knowledge, that such an act has taken place in the principality."
The identities of the injured individuals have not been disclosed, but it has been confirmed that they were transported to a hospital in Nice, France, for treatment. Mirmand noted that two of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries.
