**Today’s Weather: Rains and Thunderstorms Expected Inland and in the Higher Mountains**
Cyprus is set to experience a shift in weather conditions today, with an initial clear sky giving way to increased cloud cover and the potential for isolated showers and thunderstorms, particularly in inland areas and the higher mountain regions.
As the day progresses, temperatures are forecasted to rise significantly, reaching up to 35 degrees Celsius in the interior. Coastal areas will see slightly cooler temperatures, with readings around 31 degrees on the west and southwest coasts, and approximately 32 degrees on the remaining coastal regions. In contrast, the higher mountainous areas will experience a much cooler temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius.
Winds will initially be variable, blowing at a gentle 3 Beaufort. However, as the day advances, the winds are expected to shift predominantly to the southwest and northwest, increasing in strength to reach up to 4 Beaufort. In some areas, particularly on the windward coast, wind speeds may temporarily escalate to 5 Beaufort. The sea conditions are anticipated to be slightly rough, which may affect maritime activities.
As night falls, the weather will transition back to mainly clear skies, although an increase in cloud cover is expected in the western half of the island. Nighttime temperatures will drop to around 22 degrees Celsius inland, while coastal areas will remain slightly warmer at about 23 degrees. The higher mountains will see cooler temperatures, dropping to approximately 15 degrees Celsius. Winds during the night will be mild, predominantly coming from the west to northwest, reaching up to 4 Beaufort. The sea will continue to be slightly rough.
Looking ahead to the next few days, the weather is expected to stabilize, with mainly clear conditions anticipated on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Temperatures will gradually increase through Friday, with little change expected on Saturday.
Residents and visitors in Cyprus are advised to stay informed about the weather conditions, especially those planning outdoor activities or traveling in mountainous regions, where thunderstorms may pose additional risks.
