**Tottenham Signs Omar Marmoush on Season-Long Loan from Manchester City**
Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced the signing of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush from Manchester City on a season-long loan. The deal, confirmed on August 27, 2026, includes an obligation for Spurs to make Marmoush's transfer permanent at the end of the season for a guaranteed fee of £50 million ($68 million), with potential add-ons amounting to an additional £10 million.
Marmoush, 27, expressed his enthusiasm about joining Tottenham, stating, “It feels amazing to be here. I’m so excited to get started with the team, and I can’t wait to meet the fans.” He acknowledged the club's stature, referring to it as “one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world,” and highlighted the appeal of the project under head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
De Zerbi, who took charge of Tottenham in March, has been focused on rebuilding the squad, particularly after a challenging previous season that saw the team finish 17th in the Premier League. The coach's strategy includes enhancing the attacking options, which has led to the acquisition of Marmoush, a versatile forward capable of playing both centrally and on the left wing. Marmoush's arrival follows the signings of midfielders Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, as well as defender Jan Paul van Hecke, with the club investing a total of £237 million ($322 million) in new talent.
In his first season at Manchester City during the 2024-25 campaign, Marmoush made a notable impact, scoring seven goals. However, his second season proved more challenging, as he struggled to secure consistent playing time behind established stars, including leading striker Erling Haaland. Last season, he managed to score only three goals in 21 Premier League appearances.
Marmoush also represented Egypt in the 2026 World Cup, where he played in five matches. Although he did not score during the tournament, he contributed to the team's journey to the knockout stage, where they were ultimately eliminated by Argentina, the eventual runners-up.
