Initial reports indicate that the victim was part of a five-member family of European nationals visiting the beach. The mother entered the rough sea around 6:30 p.m. alongside her two daughters, aged 12 and 13. All three encountered severe difficulty due to turbulent water conditions. Fellow beachgoers noticed their distress and rushed into the water to pull them to shore. Rescuers were unable to save the woman. Her two daughters were transported to Archbishop Makarios III Hospital in Nicosia, where medical staff reported that one of the girls remains in serious condition. The drowning occurred shortly after lifeguards had finished their shift for the day. The family’s third child remained on the shore with their father during the incident.
