The shooting took place in the early hours of 31 March at the store belonging to a 40-year-old Russian businessman. Investigators followed the vehicles’ movements minute by minute through the camera network until they identified the car and secured arrest warrants against two people, who were remanded for eight days on Wednesday. According to philenews, a tip received by police on 3 June named a 20-year-old Greek-Cypriot as the shooter and the owner of the white motorcycle used in the attack. The same tip indicated the young suspect had supplied the weapon used by the 36-year-old suspect. Arrest warrants were issued against both men, who had since been wanted. On 11 August, a coordinated operation by the Criminal Investigation Department and the Rapid Response Unit located and arrested the pair. Their mobile phones were seized as evidence, and, with the 20-year-old’s written consent, his vehicle was searched, where a pair of gloves was recovered as evidence. Both suspects denied any involvement when questioned. They appeared before Limassol District Court on Wednesday, which ordered their eight-day remand. They are under investigation for conspiracy to commit a felony, illegal possession and transport of a firearm, illegal possession and transport of explosives, discharging a firearm, and possession of a firearm. Police are still seeking one more person, and around 40 further statements are expected to be taken. How the CCTV network exposed them Camera footage showed that at around 4am on 31 March 2026, a motorcycle approached the store and circled the area for several minutes before parking at the entrance. The rider fired several shots at the premises while stationary on the motorcycle, then left, heading east. Investigators followed the motorcycle’s route through dozens of cameras. A few minutes after the shooting, it headed north towards Agios Athanasios and the Sfalangiotissa cemetery, stopping at the roadside near a parked Mercedes. Camera footage covering that spot showed the Mercedes had parked there a few minutes earlier, and that its passenger had stepped out and waited by the roadside a minute before the motorcycle arrived. The two riders stayed briefly at the scene before leaving together heading north. Police then worked to establish the routes both vehicles had taken before and after this meeting point. Footage showed that the motorcycle and the Mercedes had both travelled to a specific road, where they met, before the motorcycle headed to the scene of the shooting. Investigators also worked to identify the Mercedes and its driver, and traced its route after the shooting through to Kato Polemidia. Police established that the vehicle’s registration corresponded to a car owned by the 36-year-old suspect. Camera footage from premises near the 36-year-old’s home also showed that at around 4.30am on 31 March — roughly 20 minutes after the shooting — the Mercedes parked in an open area opposite a café near his residence, and the driver walked towards it. This was the fourth attack against the 40-year-old Russian businessman. The first came on 26 November 2025, when his luxury vehicles were set on fire in Mouttagiaka. This was followed on 18 December 2025 by the arson of the same Germasogeia store. On 24 March 2026, unknown individuals placed an explosive device outside a fast-food outlet he runs near the old port, before the 31 March shooting at the liquor store. Police forensic examiners established that around 16 shots were fired at the premises in the latest attack.
