According to information under investigation, the two suspects travelled to an area in Nicosia district at around 9pm on Monday to meet a 30-year-old man. While driving, one of the suspects struck the 30-year-old with his car. He then struck a 32-year-old relative of the victim, who had rushed to the scene, under circumstances still being investigated. The driver fled the scene immediately afterwards. The second suspect, who had arrived separately by motorbike, stayed behind and attacked the 30-year-old man, who managed to restrain him. Police called to the scene arrested the motorbike suspect on site, while the driver was traced and arrested later under a court warrant. The motorbike itself proved to be significant: further checks found it had been reported stolen on August 30 at Nicosia CID. Both suspects appeared before Nicosia District Court on Tuesday morning, which approved a police request and remanded them in custody for eight days for further investigation. The 30-year-old victim and his 32-year-old relative were taken to Nicosia General Hospital. The relative was found to have chest and leg injuries and was admitted for treatment, with his condition described as out of danger. The 30-year-old was also admitted, as a precaution. Nicosia CID is continuing its investigation.
