**Two Arrested Over Drug Find in Paphos**
Paphos, Cyprus – In a significant drug bust on Friday, local police arrested two individuals in Paphos after conducting a series of raids that resulted in the seizure of over three kilograms of cannabis, more than 1,000 ecstasy pills, and €42,500 in cash.
The operation began with a search at the residence of a 35-year-old man, where authorities discovered a substantial amount of cash totaling €42,500, as well as 89 grams of cannabis, 1,133 ecstasy pills, and 90 capsules of anabolic substances. Following this initial search, officers also found an additional 5 grams of cannabis in the suspect's vehicle. The man is expected to be remanded before the Paphos district court on Saturday.
In a separate search, police targeted a 40-year-old woman at her home, where they uncovered 3.47 kilograms of cannabis. She was arrested on the spot for committing a flagrant offence and was subsequently taken to the Paphos police department, where she was charged in writing. The woman will be summoned to appear in court at a later date.
The operations did not conclude without incident. During a third search at the residence of another 35-year-old man, police encountered hostility. The man reportedly insulted the officers and physically assaulted two of them. As a result, the officers were taken to the Paphos General Hospital for treatment. This individual was also arrested for flagrant offences, although subsequent searches of his home and another property he owns in Paphos did not yield any illegal items.
Authorities are continuing their investigations into the matter, aiming to gather more information and assess the full extent of the drug operation. The police have not disclosed whether the arrested individuals are connected to each other or if they are part of a larger drug trafficking network.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding drug-related activities in the region, prompting local law enforcement to intensify their efforts in combating the illegal drug trade. As investigations proceed, police are urging the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to assist in their efforts to maintain public safety.
