In the nearby city of Ramenskoye, approximately 400 residents, including 70 children, were evacuated from a 21-story apartment block after debris from a falling drone ignited a fire on the roof, damaging 20 vehicles in the vicinity.
Another fatality was reported in the Orekhovo-Zuyevo district, where an elderly man died after a private home was destroyed and caught fire during the drone attack.
The drone strikes also extended into Moscow itself, damaging a facility at the Moscow Oil Refinery, although no casualties were reported in that incident. Mayor Sergey Sobyanin indicated that emergency services were promptly deployed to manage the situation.
In addition to the aforementioned incidents, a warehouse complex in Sofyino caught fire, and an apartment building in Kotelniki was struck, igniting flames on three floors. Authorities are still assessing whether there were any injuries in this latter incident. Damage was also reported in Kolomna and Yegoryevsk, while fires broke out in residential buildings across the Leninsky district, Lyubertsy, and Lytkarino. In Istra, both a residential building and an industrial facility sustained damage, but no casualties were reported.
This drone attack coincided with the final day of Russia's three-day parliamentary elections, raising concerns about the implications of such violence on the political landscape. Moscow has accused Kyiv of undermining diplomatic efforts while publicly advocating for renewed negotiations. Russian President Vladimir Putin remarked on Friday that the Ukrainian leadership was "talking about peace" while simultaneously taking actions that hindered the possibility of negotiations.
Earlier this month, in response to previous Ukrainian attacks within Russian territory, President Putin ordered large-scale retaliatory strikes targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
