Police received a report of a fight in the area at around 10pm on Sunday, September 13. Checks that followed led to a rental car containing bats and an axe, which was taken to Limassol Police Directorate for further examination. Shortly afterwards, while still carrying out checks in the area, police spotted five people who ran when they saw officers. Three of them got into a car and tried to flee; the vehicle was stopped immediately, and checks identified the occupants as a 21-year-old, a 27-year-old and a 28-year-old. At the same time, two men on foot were stopped and identified as a 26-year-old and a 30-year-old. All five were arrested on the spot for unlawful assembly and taken to the offices of Limassol CID, though it remains unclear whether they are connected to the two men’s injuries. Checks are continuing to establish this. Then, at around 1am, following further information, the two injured men, aged 24 and 22, were found at two separate locations in Agios Ioannis, Limassol, and taken by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital. Both men were admitted for treatment, with their condition described as serious. According to the doctors on duty, the 24-year-old has skull fractures; an epidural haematoma; a fractured shoulder blade; a fractured vertebra; and other injuries. The 22-year-old has an open wound to the top of the skull with associated fractures; an epidural haematoma; and a fractured vertebra. Limassol CID is continuing its investigation.
