Nov. 6, 2026 Smoke over the Afipsky refinery in the Krasnodar region after the Ukrainian attack on Nov. 6, 2026. @supernova_plus / Telegram Russia and Ukraine launched overnight drone attacks against each other’s industrial sites and energy infrastructure on Friday. Authorities in the southern Krasnodar region said drone debris fell onto an unidentified industrial facility in the town of Afipsky and sparked a fire. The exiled news outlet Astra said it used eyewitness footage of smoke rising from an industrial area to identify the target as the Afipsky oil refinery, which has a processing capacity of 9.1 million metric tons of crude per year, or around 3% of Russia’s national total. The plant, which produces gasoline and Euro-5 diesel, has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian drones since the 2022 Russian invasion, with previous attacks recorded in August and July. Russia’s Defense Ministry said it intercepted 142 Ukrainian drones across Russia and annexed Crimea between Thursday night and Friday morning. Ukraine, meanwhile, reported shooting down or jamming 196 Russian drones, with impacts and fallen debris recorded at 22 locations across the country. The Russian attacks caused power outages across seven Ukrainian regions, including Kyiv and Kharkiv. Ukraine’s Deputy Energy Minister Artem Nekrasov said electrical disruptions remained “most difficult in the capital region,” where emergency repair crews were forced to partially shut down the local grid due to heavy damage.
