**Ukraine Strikes Russian Military Facilities Amid Growing Tensions**

In a significant escalation of hostilities, Ukraine has executed a series of long-range strikes targeting key military installations within Russia. These operations included attacks on a military airfield and a rocket facility associated with the Russian Starlink-style satellite internet network, according to reports from Ukrainian officials.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Ukrainian armed forces utilized domestically produced Flamingo cruise missiles to strike the Progress Centre, a critical site for Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos. This facility is believed to play a vital role in producing rocket technology and electronics essential for Russia's military operations. The Progress Centre is located approximately 900 kilometers (560 miles) from the Ukrainian border, underscoring Ukraine’s expanding long-range strike capabilities as it aims to exert pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In addition to the Progress Centre, Ukrainian forces successfully targeted the Savasleyka air base, situated about 700 kilometers (430 miles) from Ukraine. Zelenskyy emphasized that these strikes are part of a broader strategy to impose long-range sanctions on Russia, aiming to diminish its military potential. “Our plan of long-range sanctions against Russia for this war is being implemented, and it is important that Russia’s war potential be reduced,” he stated. “Peace is needed, and this must be evident in Russia – through concrete damage to specific facilities.”
In response to the Ukrainian attacks, Ivan Noskov, the mayor of Samara, reported that local air defenses had repelled what he characterized as a “massive” assault. He confirmed that some industrial sites in the region sustained damage as a result of the strikes.
The conflict has also seen retaliatory actions from Russia. On the same day, a Ukrainian drone strike in the Moscow region targeted a residential area in the town of Shatura, resulting in injuries to two individuals, including a nine-year-old child. Governor Andrey Vorobyov provided updates on the situation, stating that the child’s condition has since stabilized.
In a separate incident, Russian forces launched attacks on Ukraine, hitting an apartment block in the southeastern town of Marhanets. Local officials reported that a three-month-old baby was killed in this attack, highlighting the ongoing toll of the conflict on civilians.
Amid these military developments, Moscow is seeking clarification from the United States and Turkiye regarding reports of a potential arms package intended for Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry has expressed concerns about the implications of such a transfer, which is said to include a “substantial arsenal” of U.S. weapons and ammunition currently held by Turkiye. Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that if the transfer proceeds, it would inflict “serious harm” on Russia’s diplomatic relations with both nations.
