Ukrainian drones have executed strikes on two logistics centers operated by the Russian online retailer Wildberries, resulting in injuries to several employees, according to regional authorities. The attacks occurred in southern Russia, specifically targeting facilities in Krasnodar and Nevinnomyssk, and were part of a broader escalation in Ukraine's drone campaign against Russian infrastructure.
The founder of Wildberries, Tatyana Kim, confirmed the attacks on Wednesday, stating that both warehouses were evacuated and operations were suspended as emergency services responded to the incidents. "Our priority is people," Kim expressed, thanking her team for their prompt evacuation efforts. Preliminary reports indicated that ten employees were injured at the Krasnodar facility, with three in serious condition and one moderately injured. The remaining six received outpatient treatment.
In addition to the injuries at the Wildberries warehouses, drone debris also impacted two apartment buildings in Krasnodar and two private homes in the nearby Dinskaya district, although no casualties were reported from these incidents.
In Nevinnomyssk, five individuals sought medical assistance following the drone strike on the warehouse located on the city's outskirts. In response to the situation, local authorities declared a state of emergency as firefighters and other emergency services worked to manage the aftermath of the attack.
In a separate incident, more than 16 drones targeted an oil depot in Armavir, resulting in a significant fire that spanned approximately 800 square meters. Tragically, one worker was killed in this attack, as confirmed by Governor Veniamin Kondratyev.
These drone strikes followed a series of similar attacks over the past week, including a strike on the Yuzhnye Vorota industrial park in Domodedovo, Moscow Region, which ignited a fire. Earlier drone strikes had also hit Wildberries facilities in Elektrostal and Kotovsk, leading to multiple fatalities and injuries. In Kotovsk, seven night-shift workers were killed, while one person later died from injuries sustained in the Elektrostal attack.
The recent escalation in drone activity has drawn international attention. Thameen Al-Kheetan, a spokesperson for the UN human rights office, commented on the strikes, emphasizing that "intentional attacks directed against civilians and civilian objects constitute a war crime under international humanitarian law." He called for thorough investigations into the incidents.
