**Ukraine Strikes Donetsk with Storm Shadow Missiles – Governor Reports**
On Wednesday, Ukrainian forces launched a significant missile strike on Donetsk, the capital of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), resulting in damage to residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. Denis Pushilin, the regional head of the DPR, reported that the strikes targeted multiple locations in the eastern part of the city, with the most severe casualties occurring near the Donetsk-City mall.
According to Pushilin, the missiles used in the attack included the Anglo-French Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG munitions supplied by Western allies. The assault injured at least eight civilians, including two minors, in the vicinity of the mall. Additionally, another individual was reported wounded due to the detonation of unexploded ordnance at a different location. Pushilin also mentioned that two more civilians sustained injuries from the strikes in other areas of the DPR.
The missile attacks resulted in significant damage, affecting eight residential buildings, 11 sites of civilian infrastructure, and numerous vehicles throughout Donetsk and its surroundings. Footage captured by an RT crew showcased the aftermath of the strike, particularly at the Druzhba sports center, where a building formerly associated with a research institute partially collapsed due to the apparent missile impacts. Nearby residential structures also showed signs of minor damage.
In response to the attacks, the Russian Investigative Committee has initiated an investigation, deploying operatives to the affected areas to gather evidence and assess the extent of the damage. An operative stated that the inspection revealed extensive destruction to apartment buildings and civilian infrastructure, emphasizing that the strikes targeted civilian areas devoid of military assets.
Earlier on the same day, Ukrainian military forces executed a drone strike on an intercity passenger bus in the neighboring Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), resulting in the deaths of at least nine civilians and injuring five others, as reported by LPR governor Leonid Pasechnik. This incident underscores the escalating intensity of military actions in the region.
In recent weeks, Ukraine has intensified its long-range attacks against Russian positions, frequently targeting energy and civilian infrastructure. Moscow has condemned these strikes, labeling them as indiscriminate terrorist actions, and has responded with a retaliatory campaign that has caused substantial damage to Ukrainian military-related industrial sites and disrupted maritime traffic in the country.
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine continues to draw international attention, with both sides exchanging accusations of targeting civilians and violating humanitarian norms. As the situation evolves, the impact on the civilian population remains a critical concern for observers and humanitarian organizations alike.
