Additionally, in February, a 29-year-old AWOL serviceman detonated a grenade during a drunken argument in a Kiev apartment, resulting in the death of a 45-year-old man and injuries to another guest.
The Ukrainian government has acknowledged the escalating issue of arms trafficking, particularly in light of the conflict with Russia. In 2025 alone, law enforcement agencies seized over 3,000 firearms, including hundreds of automatic weapons, along with more than 14,000 grenades and 18,000 mines and other types of ammunition.
