**University of Limassol Celebrates Graduation of New Generation of Scholars**
The University of Limassol (UoL) marked a significant milestone in its academic calendar with its annual graduation ceremony held on June 26, 2026. The event was filled with pride and celebration as graduates received their degrees, symbolizing the successful completion of their academic journeys and the commencement of new personal and professional chapters.
Socrates Ellinas, Chairman of the UoL Council, opened the ceremony with a welcome address that underscored the university's dynamic growth. He noted that this growth builds upon the legacy of the Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM) and highlighted the expansion of the university's Schools and academic programs. A particularly noteworthy achievement mentioned was the graduation of the first cohort from the newly established School of Social Sciences and Humanities, alongside the successful completion of distance learning programs.
Labour Minister Marinos Moushouttas, representing President Nikos Christodoulides, also addressed the audience, emphasizing the transformation of CIIM into the University of Limassol. He praised the institution's strong focus on innovation, technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation, which have contributed to its reputation as one of the fastest-growing universities in Cyprus.
In his remarks, UoL Rector Professor Theodore Panayotou encouraged the graduates to utilize their acquired knowledge responsibly and ethically. He urged them to strive for success while upholding integrity and contributing positively to society. A highlight of the graduation ceremony was the conferment of the titles of Founding Rector and Professor Emeritus upon Professor Panayotou. The University’s Senate and Council acknowledged his efforts in shaping the academic identity of UoL, marking this occasion as a fitting tribute to his legacy.
