Like the Kiku, the Ever Lovely sustained no injuries to its crew and continued its journey despite the attack. President Trump condemned the earlier drone strike as a “foolish violation” of a ceasefire agreement established on June 17, which aimed to stabilize the region.
Following the attack on the Ever Lovely, military exchanges occurred between the U.S. and Iran, with the U.S. targeting areas around Sirik and Iran retaliating by striking U.S. military installations in the Middle East. CENTCOM noted that after the U.S. strikes in response to the Ever Lovely incident, Iran had an opportunity to adhere to the ceasefire agreement but chose not to, as evidenced by the subsequent attack on the Kiku.
