**US Man Arrested at Trump’s Golf Course Charged with Multiple Felonies**
A 38-year-old California man, Jeanine John Taele, has been arrested at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, Los Angeles, while allegedly impersonating a member of the security detail ahead of President Donald Trump's scheduled visit. The incident occurred on August 4, 2026, just two days before Trump was set to attend a Republican National Committee dinner in the area.
Taele faces multiple felony charges, including possession of a large-capacity magazine and illegal weapons found both in his vehicle and at his residence. Following his arrest, he pleaded not guilty to all charges during a court appearance on August 5, with bail set at $250,000. This arrest comes amidst an ongoing legal situation for Taele, who was already facing charges related to state weapons and second-degree robbery from a prior incident.
According to a federal criminal complaint filed in the California Central District Court, Taele was first spotted on the golf course on August 2, where he was seen wearing an earpiece and capturing photos and videos of federal agents conducting a security assessment for the upcoming presidential visit. His behavior raised suspicions, leading to his subsequent arrest.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that a search of Taele's pickup truck, parked at the golf club, revealed a loaded 9mm pistol, binoculars, and a badge identifying him as a "security protection agent." Following this discovery, law enforcement officials conducted a search of his home in Downey, California, where they uncovered an unregistered short-barreled rifle, additional firearms, magazines, ammunition, body armor, and notebooks containing "concerning statements." Taele's military background includes service as a corporal in the US Marine Corps, during which he was deployed to Iraq in 2008 and Afghanistan in 2010. As of now, Taele is being held at a downtown Los Angeles jail, with a federal hearing on weapons charges initially scheduled for Wednesday being canceled. A spokesperson from the US attorney’s office has confirmed that he is not yet in federal custody.
