Military drillsVladimir formation of Russia’s Strategic Missile Force undergoes scheduled inspection During the exercise, crews of the Yars mobile ground-based missile systems are practicing marching and maneuvering operationsMOSCOW, October 8. /TASS/. The Vladimir missile formation of Russia’s Strategic Missile Force (RVSN) is undergoing a scheduled comprehensive check with the deployment of the Yars road mobile launchers along combat patrol routes, the Russian Defense Ministry reported. "In accordance with the Strategic Missile Force training plan for 2026, a commission from the RVSN command is conducting a comprehensive inspection of the Vladimir missile formation, which includes a command-staff exercise with a fixed-base missile unit under the leadership of RVSN Commander Colonel General Sergey Karakayev. In addition to the fixed-site missile formation, autonomous launchers from the Strategic Missile Force’s mobile-based missile formations have been deployed along combat patrol routes as part of the exercise. During the exercise, crews of the Yars mobile ground-based missile systems are practicing marching and maneuvering operations," the ministry said in a statement. The Yars road mobile launchers are also practicing the dispersal of missile battalions, including tactical displacement and traversing sections of simulated contaminated terrain and engineer obstacles, as well as organizing camouflage and security measures. Support forces (deployed to their designated areas) as well as attached units from the Moscow Military District are involved in the maneuvers. Following the exercises, a commission from the Strategic Missile Forces command will assess the readiness of command and control bodies and the training of crews. Army aircraft and Strategic Missile Force’s unmanned systems units, with extensive use of UAVs, are being deployed for aerial reconnaissance of vehicle routes and for the search for and detection of simulated saboteurs. The main objective of the exercises is to improve the coordination of military command and control bodies. During the inspection, the formation’s personnel are demonstrating a high level of training and readiness to perform their assigned missions, the ministry specified.
