The collective West tried to interfere in the elections of the Russian parliament’s lower house, the State Duma, resorting to cyber attacks, provocations and strikes by Ukrainian drones at polling stations, but it eventually failed, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said on Tuesday. "The collective West actively attempted to interfere in the voting resorting to cyber attacks, strikes by Ukrainian UAVs on polling stations, information provocations. It all did not work out and never will," he wrote on his Max channel. "It is only up to the people of our country to determine their fate and the future of Russia," Volodin added. Elections of the 9th State Duma took place during the three-day voting period from September 18 to 20. For the first time, residents of the Donbass and Novorossiya regions participated in the elections. Ten parties were included in the electoral lists for the federal constituency: United Russia, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), the Liberal Democratic Party of the Russian Federation (LDPR), New People, A Just Russia - For Truth, the Party of Pensioners for Social Justice, the Communists of Russia, Rodina, the Party of Direct Democracy as well as the Greens Ecological Party. Concurrently, elections were held for the legislative assemblies of 39 regions, as well as for the heads of constituent entities of Russia: direct elections in eight regions and elections by regional parliaments in three.
