Famagusta police said officers were directing traffic at about 10.50pm when the woman approached them and allegedly began shouting and insulting them. She was arrested for offences allegedly committed in the officers’ presence. Police said she resisted arrest and assaulted an officer during the incident. The woman was subsequently taken to Ayia Napa police station, where she was charged in writing and released. She is expected to be summoned to appear before a court at a later date.
