**Woman Jailed for Fatal Paralimni Traffic Accident**
The Famagusta District Court has sentenced a 41-year-old woman to 12 months in prison following a tragic traffic accident that resulted in the death of a 35-year-old motorcyclist in Paralimni. The incident occurred on June 29, 2022, on Korai Street, where the woman was found guilty of causing death by reckless driving, ignoring a traffic signal, and operating a vehicle on a learner’s licence without a qualified supervisor present.
The victim, identified as Giorgos Koronidis, was riding his motorcycle when it collided with the woman's car. Despite wearing a protective helmet at the time of the accident, Koronidis sustained severe injuries and was thrown onto the road. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and he was transported to Famagusta General Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was intubated and later transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries early the next morning.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed eight penalty points on the woman’s driving record and issued a three-month driving ban, which will commence immediately upon her release from incarceration. The Famagusta Traffic Police conducted a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision, which ultimately led to the court's decision.
